Posting has been a little light lately but such is life when you work in retail during the holidays!  Even so, I wanted to stop in (a bit early) to wish you guys a very Merry Christmas!  In the spirit of giving, I’m wearing a few of my THON accessories.  I’ve mentioned it before, but THON is Penn State’s 46-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon that raises money for pediatric cancer research and the 4 Diamonds fund at Hershey Medical Center.  It’s such an amazing cause and one that my hubby and I donate to every year.  So if you are looking for a great charity to support during the holidays (and year-round!) I would definitely check THON out!

I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season! Merry Christmas everyone!!

It has come to my attention that I have an addiction to plaid

They say the first step is admitting you have a problem right?  Well I’m admitting it.  I am addicted to plaid.  But I have to say, this isn’t an addiction I care about overcoming.  I LOVE plaid!  I mean, really, what’s better than a good plaid?  It’s the perfect print, if you ask me.  What’s that?  You think stripes are the perfect print?  Well riddle me this: what is plaid but horizontal stripes mixing with vertical stripes?  Yeah, that’s right!  I love the color combo in this shirt too.  I loved it so much that when I saw a guys version of it at J. Crew, I convinced Boo to try it on and, long story short, we definitely have matching shirts now.  We try not to wear them on the same day, but, well, it doesn’t always work out that way.  We may have to start consulting on our outfit choices before we leave the house.

And speaking of flannel

If a flannel shirt is cozy, then a flannel shirt dress must be even more cozy, right?  Right!  I’ve had this dress for a few years now (you might remember it from this post) and still keep going back to it.  I think switching out the matching fabric belt helps elevate the look a little (as does losing the Uggs!).  Not that this outfit will ever be high fashion or anything, but it’s nice to know you can be cute and warm at the same time.  You know, in case it ever actually cools down over here!

Flannel is a girl’s best friend

Jeans, Madewell; Tank, Madewell; Flannel, Madewell; Necklace, J. Crew Factory; Bracelets, Madewell (woven) and J. Crew (sparkly); Pin, PSU THON store; Belt, American Eagle; Socks, Penn State Student Bookstore (Big Blue on the Corner, not the official store); Boots, Madewell

This outfit is quickly becoming one of my favorites.  I’ve worn this combo at least twice in the last few weeks.  The color combo is the best and the mixing of a plaid with a graphic is something I’m a big fan of.  I know you don’t have a clear view of the graphic on the tank but it is the alphabet and has 4 green letters.  Which ones?  L, O, V, E.  How cute, right?!

You probably noticed that I’m rocking some PSU garb in this picture.  This was actually taken a few weeks ago (I know, I know, and I JUST said that I was caught up!) and it felt really important to me to show my Penn State pride however I could and to remind people that Penn State is about more than football.  That’s why I wore my THON pin.  Because Penn Staters won’t let the actions of one man damage the reputation of a school that is about SO MUCH MORE than football.  Because now is the time for Penn State to focus on the good, like the millions of dollars THON has raised for Hershey Medical Center and the Four Diamonds Fund.  And while I couldn’t head into work rocking a PSU hoodie, I could incorporate the colors (and sneak in some awesome PSU socks!)

Channeling my inner Quinn Fabray

It’s become pretty apparent that I have made Dianna Agron my style muse.  First, her hair was the inspiration for my hair and now I’m styling my outfits like her character on Glee.  Don’t believe me?

(top photo via imdb, bottom photo via here)

What can I say? Girl’s got style.  And while that style is typically a little more girly than the way I normally dress, I can’t help but love her look.  This was also the first day I tried the side bangs with my hair and I have to say, I was a big fan!  I’ve never thought about bangs as an adult.  The last time I was stupid enough to try bangs was in high school.  It was after way too many mornings fighting with my curls to get them to stop acting like little devil horns that I finally gave up and acknowledged that bangs weren’t for me.  But I figured I’d give it one more shot.  You know, just to see how the long bangs might look.  Suffice it to say, you’ll be seeing them a lot more!

Finally caught up and a debuting a new ‘do

Sometime back in October I became completely obsessed with the idea of cutting my hair short.  I’m pretty sure it was seeing Dianna Agron on a step and repeat rocking her short cut (this pic actually, from my Pinterest).  And then I started scouring the internet for short hair inspiration and in the process I found this picture (it was re-pinned, sorry I’m not sure about the original source–if anyone knows, let me know!) and knew I needed to recreate the outfit.  So thanks to Pinterest, I am now equipped with a new cut and some fabulous outfits that I will be recreating!

Now, can we take a second to talk about this necklace?

I paid $8.80 for this necklace and I am completely in love with it.  It’s absolutely fantastic and I get compliments on it every single time I wear it.  Everyone asks where it came from and people are constantly floored to hear “Forever 21″ as my response.  Envied statement necklace for under $10?  Don’t mind if I do!

Le Minor and a change of shoes

One of things that happens when you work in retail is that all of your shoes, at some point or another, will become worthless.  It will seem that no matter what you wear, your feet and knees and back will hurt.  And that’s why when I get dressed in the morning I generally pick out the shoes that I’m going to wear as well as the shoes that I want as my backup pair.  This is also why I show up to work with the equivalent of a small suitcase.  What?  A girl needs her backup shoes, extra makeup, filtered water bottle, lunch and book to read during lunch.
