I’m in love! I’m in love! And I don’t care who knows it!

I have to confess something you guys: I own a poncho.  And I am in love with it.  I always swore I would never wear a poncho.  But when I walked past this little lovely in Nordstrom, I had to bring it home with me.  Maybe it’s cheating because it seems like it is less poncho and more thin-but-baggy sweatshirt, but I don’t really think it is.  Plus, I don’t really care what it is because it is comfy and cozy and soft and amazing.  It has quickly become a staple piece in my wardrobe.

Also…have you noticed the color rut that I’m in?  I can’t help myself!

Here I go again

Back-zip legging jean, Madewell; Tribute tee, Madewell; Cardigan, Madewell; Anchor necklace, Madewell; Bracelet, Charlotte Russe (I think?  It’s really old!); Dustbowl boot, Madewell

I told you that I’m all about breaking the rules lately.  First my white jeans, and then yesterday with my brown/black plaid.  Well, here I go again.  I’m telling you, black and brown is my new favorite color combo.  I don’t know if it’s because I actually love the combination or if it’s because it feels like I’m getting away with something (and doesn’t that always appeal to the baby of the family?).

This Tribute tee is completely amazing.  And yes, this is the 3rd of 4 colors that I have it in.  The blue and rose made appearances in my 30 for 30, the grey you haven’t seen yet, and this is the shirt that was part of my dream outfit during the last few days of remixing.  Actually, so was the cardigan that I’m wearing (which, by the way, is also so amazing that I had to buy it in another color too!)

Ikea days are the best days

Jeans, Madewell; Blouse, H&M; Necklace, Madewell; Biker boots, Madewell

This is what I wore the last time Boo and I went to Ikea.  I’ve been trying to really up my game when it comes to errands, etc.  I mean, unless it’s a quick trip somewhere, I try to make sure that I at least throw on a necklace or something to cute up my duds.  I may not bother with makeup (see: above, haha!) but if I can add a necklace or a scarf, I feel like I tried a little harder!

In other news, I love me some Ikea.  It’s the best.  It’s also the type of place that I can never go to alone.  Even with Boo to hold me back, we walked right in and were immediately picking stuff up going “Do we need this?! YES!” It’s less the furniture and more the little knick-knack stuff.  In fact, my tool kit is from Ikea.  It was like, $7.99 and seemed like a good purchase before I moved into my apartment in New York.  I’ve actually used it a lot–it’s a great little tool kit!

Rule breaker

Skinny switchyard cargos, Madewell; Tank, Forever 21; Cardigan, Madewell; Dustbowl boots, Madewell; Necklace, Madewell

OMG! White jeans!  BEFORE Memorial Day!  Hey man, I said I was a rule breaker.  But that’s the thing that I love about fashion these days: there are no rules anymore.  It seems like everything that was once verboten (never wear black with brown, no white before Memorial Day, etc.) is now totally cool.  In fact, I’ve been breaking rules left and right lately.

But even in the midst of all my rule breaking, I did something that will make you guys so proud of me: I remembered to take detail shots this time!

Also…remember how I said on Monday that I would be back to normal and then didn’t post for the rest of the week?  Yeah, well that was because I got a new computer on Sunday and it’s taken me awhile to get the hang of how everything works–especially the photo editing.  But bear with me, I’ll figure it all out soon enough!

Boo finished this months ago…perhaps I should post it?

leave a comment »

Oh hey guys…yeah, I realized I haven’t been here in like a month.  Sorry about that.  I don’t know what happened.  Maybe I was so overwhelmed by once again having my entire closet at my disposal that I forgot to post?  Sure…let’s go with that.

In the meantime, Boo is celebrating one month reunited with his whole wardrobe and here I forgot to post his last 10 pictures!  Yikes!  My bad, Boo, my bad!

So here they are, Boo’s last 10 looks!

Day 20: Calvin Klein shirt, Gap Khakis, Cole Haan belt, Cole Haan shoes

Day 21: Nautica shirt, American Eagle sweater, Eddie Bauer jeans, Clarks boots, PSU hat

Day 22: Kenneth Cole shirt, Gap sweater vest, Gap pants, Cole Haan shoes

Day 23: Nautica shirt, J. Crew sweater, Gap pants, Cole Haan shoes

Day 24: Van Heusen shirt, Gap pants, Cole Haan belt, Cole Haan shoes

Day 25: Eddie Bauer shirt, Eddie Bauer jeans, Cole Haan belt, Cole Haan shoes

Day 26: Eddie Bauer shirt, Eddie Bauer jeans, Clarks boots

Day 27: Van Heusen shirt, Gap sweater vest, Gap pants, Alfani tie, Cole Haan shoes

Day 28: Nautica shirt, Gap pants, Cole Haan belt, Cole Haan shoes

Day 29: Nautica shirt, Gap pants, Cole Haan belt, Cole Haan shoes

Day 30: Eddie Bauer shirt, J. Crew sweater, Eddie Bauer jeans, Clarks boots

Here’s a few words from Boo, on what he learned while remixing:

I’ve learned that being forced to remix helps a guy to remember what he actually wore the week before.  When the 30 for 30 ended, I couldn’t check off what I wore the previous week and now that it’s ended, I found myself falling back into the pattern of “oh man, did I wear this last week?  What day did I wear it?”  Remixing is a great way for a guy to keep track of his wardrobe.  Now I notice when other guys in the office wear the same shirt over and over–sometimes twice in one week!

Phew!  Now that that’s done, I promise: we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming!
