Pattern mixing and one of those outfits that really confused my husband

This is an outfit that happened by accident.  I was wearing a dress and needed a shirt so that I could try this skirt on.  I just grabbed this one, just so I wouldn’t have to leave the fitting room in my bra, but when I put it on with the skirt, I LOVED it!  The pattern mixing is really unexpected but I think it really works.  Of course when I showed my husband what I was planning he gave me a face filled very much with doubt haha!  But when I put it all together, he changed his mind and admitted that maybe, just maybe, I wasn’t as crazy as he’d originally thought!

That’s right, I wore sweats to work

Riddle me this?  What is better than being able to wear sweatpants to work?  I honestly can’t think of anything.  Plus, when sweats are as cute as these (and these are dang cute) I’m not sure they count.  This is the type of outfit that I love because it pairs some unexpected items.  Generally blazers and sweats don’t exactly go together but these work.

Something fishy this way comes

Can we talk about my fishtail braid for just a second?  I LOVE a fishtail braid and I was so excited to finally get my hair long enough to do it.  And can you all guess what happened next?  Yeah, as soon as my hair was fishtail side-braid length I got the bug to cut it shorter.  That’s about right, isn’t it?  I mean, women are never happy with their hair.  If it’s straight, we want it curly; if it’s curly, we want it straight; if it’s long, we want it short but the second we cut it short we wish it was long again.

So anyway, the outfit.  I love this dress.  I wore it all summer long.  In fact, when I started re-posting I realized that I had at least 3 more photographed occasions of me wearing that dress and I know there were many other days that I wore it and just didn’t take a picture.  What can I say?  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?  When it got cooler, I knew I was going to want to keep wearing that dress so I figured “why not make it a skirt?”  I knew it would work with the sweater too because the night I bought my sweater I was wearing that dress and just tried it on over the dress!

Sandals! In November! But really in September!

I always love the difference in my pictures b/w those taken w/flash and those taken w/o it.  Granted usually that decision isn’t mine but my camera’s.  It does baffle me though, that I can stand in the same exact spot and some of the pictures will use the flash, some won’t, some will be blurry w/flash, the next blurry w/o it.  It’s all a guessing game when you’re taking the pictures yourself, really.

Otherwise known as “The Katie Holmes sweater”

Are those?…. Am I wearing?…. Yup…yup, those are sandals.  This outfit was from August.  Annoyingly enough I chose to wear this sweater for the first time the day after Katie Holmes wore it on The Tonight Show (if you want to see how she did it, clickity click).  Look, I don’t want to say that I wore this better than a celebrity who presumably had a stylist put her together but, well, I’m just not a fan of her white tee and sleeves all pushed up and bunchy.

I am a huge fan of this sweater.  It’s the perfect transition piece b/c yes, it’s a sweater, but it’s a sweater with a SUPER open weave, which makes it good for cool late summer days as well as warm early (or in Philly’s case, late) fall days.

Wanna see another way I wore it?

Because you can only wear white pants so long after Labor Day

Okay, let’s set one thing straight before we move along: I do not abide by the “no white pants after Labor Day” rule.  I think rules like that are stupid.  Who says you can only wear white between Memorial and Labor Day?  I started wearing my white jeans waaaay before Memorial Day and I didn’t pack them up until some point in October.  Whatever.

I wore this outfit for a denim event at work.  Which just proves how behind I am in my blogging b/c we just recently had another denim event.  Anyway…I wore this because I wanted to prove that white jeans aren’t just for the summer and that they can be toughened up with boots and be perfectly acceptable for fall.  Too bad the tan I’m rocking in this picture is long gone by now!

Ugh…I promise I’ll try to have more interesting things to say when I get a little more up to date with these posts!

Hello? Anyone still here?

with 2 comments

Yeah…I’m bad.  Very bad, I know.  It’s been 3 months since I’ve posted.  3 MONTHS!  That is a lot of months.  Admittedly I was repeating outfits for at least one month of that.  I mean, who can be creative in August?  It’s just so hot and humid and…August.  Blah.  And I did take pictures in September and October, I just never got around to posting them.  Don’t ask me why, just chalk it up to internet boredom or something.  But now I’m back!  Or I’m hoping to be back anyway.  So for the next little bit you’ll be getting seasonally inappropriate posts (or not, depending on the weather.  I mean, snow on Saturday but I wore shorts to the gym yesterday and wasn’t even cold).

I loved this outfit.  It was perfect to usher in the fall season.  The neutrals with that little pop of cranberry in the socks was just lovely.  And it was beyond comfy as well, which is usually one of my main outfit criteria.  The sweater is great for those cool not cold days b/c it’s pretty lightweight.  This was (as I mentioned above) from awhile ago and I’ve already repeated this outfit once and I plan to repeat it again b/c A) I really loved it and B) I really want to get a few more wearings in before I can’t handle bear legs anymore (which could be tomorrow or a month from now, so who knows!).
